Milk can be a fickle bitch sometimes. You want to buy enough so you’re never in a bind when the late-night cereal munchies hit, but you also don’t want to haveso much it spoils in your fridge.

I ran into this problem a couple weeks ago when DairyPure sent me a literal shit-ton of lactose-free milk (apparently June is National Dairy Month, I don’t know). I’m talking gallons upon gallons of milk and way more than I could ever drink all on my little lonesome.

We’ve all been there, but luckily there are solutions. So the next time you find yourself knee-deep in milk, don’t panic. Find this list and use up that milk like it’s nobody’s business.

Oh no! My milk is past the expiration date and stinks like sour armpits!

What did I say about not panicking? Even if your milk has gone a little sour, there are still ways to salvage it. According to TreeHugger, the key is tobuy raw milk because even if it starts to go bad, there are tons of ways you can use it. You can use sour raw milk for baking, gardening, cooking, cheese-making, skincare, pet food, crafts and beyond.

But if that sour milk is ultra-pasteurized, just forget about it. It’s dead and could potentially be harmful, so dump it down the drain — or on your nasty neighbor’s rose bushes. Not that I would know anything about that, but it’s a thought.

Have fun milking your milk down to the last drop, y’all.
