Australia is great, but the Northern Territory is definitely the place to be

Raise your hand if you’ve been to the Northern Territory before. 

Thought so. 

We’re all guilty of getting a little too comfortable where we currently are, so it can take some serious motivation to go anywhere else. Or you’ll go all out and travel to another country, because who wants to stay in Australia? You already live here. You’ve seen it.

You’ll convince yourself that you’re totally fine in your state, and that every other state must be just like it, no matter how bad it is. (And let’s be honest, it probably isn’t the best … Unless you’re in the Northern Territory … ‘Cause then it totally is the best.) 

So be prepared to get the push you need to take a trip and get the hell out of the state you’re in.

Things Sydney people never say

Tanya Hennessy is here to make us laugh until we cry with the typical things people from Sydney totally say all the time because it’s just the easiest place to live ever. 

Just kidding, it’s a total madhouse all the damn time and it’s just too freaking expensive and UGH.

There are also just so many fireworks events in Sydney. Why? What are we celebrating? Is there anything to celebrate here? No, probably not, because Sydney is not the Northern Territory and that cancels out every positive thing about Sydney. 

And try getting anywhere in a hurry. The public transportation is excruciating and the design of the city is laughable. It’s just not a thing that’s going to happen for you. Sorry. 

Time to take an actual vacation somewhere calm and, you know, livable. NT has waterfalls and people walking crocodiles on leads. So as Tanya says, it’s pretty much heaven.

Melbourne’s got a bone to pick

Oh hey look! It’s Harley Breen, here to talk to us about Melbourne.

The people of Melbourne are very proud of their state. To them, the Northern Territory has nothing to brag about. 

Oh they’ve got this massive rock thing in the middle of the desert? Bah! Melbourne’s got tons of rocks. That’s not even a big deal. And their coffee is … pretty awful, actually.

If you want art, Melbourne is the clear winner here. If you’re a fan of … graffiti. 

And what was that about Northern Territory’s beaches? Yeah, okay. I guess those are pretty wonderful. 

Ah, it’s no use. Have fun heading to the Northern Territory. Just make sure you allot a ridiculous amount of time if you’re headed out of Melbourne because the traffic is just hopeless.

But you’ll have a lot to look forward to on the way – sunshine, beauty and fun await you! And as Harley points out, the NT has beers as big as your head. What the hell else could you ask for?
