In a fit of rage you blocked your BFF on Instagram last night. How dare they betray you like that (whatever it is they did). Now, the sun is shining through your bedroom window and a hangover’s kicking in. Perhaps last night’s decision, you realize, was made in haste. So, uh, how do you un-block your friend?

How to unblock someone on Instagram

If you’ve blocked someone on Instagram, you can definitely unblock them. Just head to your profile, then tap the settings icon in the upper righthand corner. Under the Account section, scroll down to Blocked Users.

There, you can see the names of anyone you’ve blocked. Tap the name of the person you want to unblock, and it will take you to their profile. Then, tap the blue Unblock button.

You’re not quite done yet, though.

If youfollowed one another before, here there’s some awkwardness. By blocking that person, you actually unfollowed themand forced them to unfollow you. While Instagram didn’t notify your friend when you blocked them, they will get a notification when you follow them again. To do that, now that your friend has been unblocked, you’ll need to tap that blue button again in order to follow them. Similarly, your friend will no longer follow you until they go to your profile and decide to follow you again.
