Ten years ago this Monday, the very first tweet was launched into cyberspace.

Since March 21, 2006, Twitter’s popularity has skyrocketed. The service has become a vehicle for activist movements like #OccupyWallStreet, #BlackLivesMatter and #BringBackOurGirls. It’s been a forum for political feuds, celebrity spats and displays of integrity. It’s grown into a platform for debate, a site of scandal and a breeding ground for ideas, plus an enabler of whatever this is.

  • Others had bolder openings…
  • The politicians played it straight…
  • Some had jokes…
  • And the rest, well, they tried their best.

Here’s to 10 more years.
